If there are any no-shows or scratches, alternates will be placed in those spots 15 minutes before the event time. Alternates will be taken according to athlete placement on the alternate list.

Keep your eye on the races being run to tell your athletes whether or not we are ahead or behind of the posted time schedule. We will announce as often as possible where we are in the time schedule. The track entrance for spectators is located on the Vincent Street side of the school.

The entrance for teams and coaches is at the top of the ramp down from the east end of the north parking lot off of Diamond Street.

Team entrance will be in the same parking lot. All school buses will drop off in the Diamond Street parking lot and be given specific directions on where to park during the meet.

We suggest the athletes use it as part of their warm up and warm down. Awards will be given out immediately after each race at the awards table, located on the infield. There will be no spectator fee at West Torrance for the event and there will also be no concessions there either.

Audrey Dang UC Davis.Horseback riders come from all over the Midwest for the day-long event that covers 10 miles and several farms to fundraise for St. Jude kids. On that afternoon 21 years ago, Isabel Dill, the horse lover in the family, was riding her horse with a riding club when a friend asked if she would coordinate a Saddle Up for St.

Jude event on her family farm. For the first five years, the event had modest attendance and moderate fundraising success. Mostly, everyone had fun, she said. The event even gave the Dills a common horse experience to bond over. He is such a big part of the ride now and loves helping the kids. What began as just a few riders and the help of four or five friends has grown into an event with more than registered participants and an event crew of nearly 30 family, friends and neighbors.

Some donate money, drinks or baked goods. Participants begin arriving a day or two before the ride to camp and catch up, she said, with riders coming from throughout southern Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky. Following the ride, participants gather back at the Dill Farm for a hog roast and meal and recognition of the top fundraisers. Those funds help ensure that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
